A special request by the lovely Karolina who loved this song by Depeche Mode but didn't know what the video should be about. She had suggested Charlie/Claire or Locke. I took Charlie and Claire. ;-)

Strangely enough, while I was working on this vid, Karolina was working on my own special request - a Sawyer video to the song Disarm by Smashing Pumpkins. Turned up to be amazing, winning the flashback contest and winning the best character study of 2006.

But, coming back to Precious, this video really gave me a struggle and I suffered my first vidder block. I was 3 minutes into the video when I realized it didn't work. Took a break, asked my friends for advice... pacejunkiesuggested that I concentrate my efforts on the Ethan/abduction story and that's what I did.... and started from scratch. It was a difficult decision to get rid of the 3 minutes I'd done but I think it was worth it.

This vid is the first one I use what I like to call my trademark - the disappearing split screen: meaning I start with a regular shot then add a split screen and make the previous shot disappear. It's a real challenge to do but I think the result is very unique. I subsequently used this technique in Against all Odds, Map of the Problematique & by your side.

As for awards, I got a shiny little gold CP  for this one and it was a runner-up for best PB&J of 2006 at LVI.

Ooh, I love this one!! I'm going to watch it again. :)

"Disturbing graphic"? LOL! The other version might even be more disturbing:

Things getting broken and all... ;)

Sorry... you can delete it if it's too creepy. :)

lol!! I love it... I can't seem to remember why I didn't take that one for LVI. *is puzzled* Maybe I had more conservative taste back then.

Dang, that icon makes me want to hug Simon. But that's not why I'm here. Ahem...

I made those graphics over the summer on my dad's computer, and it had an old monitor that was really dark, so I couldn't judge the coloring very well, and the cracked version came out looking really light and washed out. I tried to fix it and came up with the version above, but I think that was after you had already submitted the vid to LVI. So maybe that's why you didn't use it...
